From St Andrews Cathedral to Hamilton

By Kevin Hammons corrected version Dr. Peter Edwards obtained his first degree from the University of Memphis in Music Performance. Later he returned to school and became a psychiatrist, yet he never abandoned his playing. His love of music ended up taking him on a ministry journey that has lead him right here to a small church in Montana. Peter was led to Christ in his 20s by a Charismatic Catholic and he subsequently joined the Catholic Church. Following his musical passion and gifts, Peter ended up as an organist and the Choir Master for the St. Andrews Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Diocese for the whole state. While serving there, he spearheaded the restoration of the Cathedral’s $400,000 organ in the 1990’s. During this time, Dr. Edward’s psychiatric career took him to the Department of Corrections in Arkansas. Although he was occasionally able to witness, working for the...

Submit or Triumph

by Mark Meckler and Rita Dunaway When Americans think of Montana, they think of “Big Sky Country.” They think of majestic mountains, rugged beauty—and citizens who have such a hunger for freedom and independence that they would gladly give up the luxuries of a more temperate climate or gentler terrain to experience the satisfaction of self-reliance and self-governance. While most Americans today still celebrate the concept of liberty, most neither appreciate nor enjoy freedom in the way envisioned by those who signed the Declaration of Independence at our nation’s founding. The revolutionary vision was a nation whose government would protect the natural, unalienable rights of the people, keep us safe from foreign and domestic enemies, and provide the most basic systems and structures necessary to an ordered society. But beyond that, our government was designed to leave us free to flourish. To prosper by means of hard work. To better...

POTUS Trump: Fear God or Government

By Debra Brown March 20, 2017 Whether you agree with the outcome of the presidential election or not, Christians are called to PRAY daily “for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2:2). How should we pray concerning the “fake news” that torments President Trump? Before there was CNN, CBS, NBC, Fox or ABC, newspapers played and continue to play a role in how people think. In June of 1854 New York newspaper magnate, Horace Greeley, wrote in an editorial, “We should not care much whether those united (against slavery) were designated ‘Whig,’ ‘Free Democrat’ or something else; though we think some simple name like ‘Republican’ would more fitly designate those who had united to restore the Union to its true mission of champion and promulgator of Liberty rather than propagandist of slavery.” (ref.:...

Butte Rescue Mission Faces Closure as 200+ Neighbors say ‘NO’

By MCN Staff March 20, 2017 The Butte Rescue Mission is being forced to move from its location on E. Second Street in Butte as of April 3rd, 2017. A replacement location hasn’t been confirmed and the director of the organization, Rocky Lyons, has been scrambling to relocate the Christian-based rescue mission. The mission is hoping to relocate to the old Madison School, owned by the Foursquare Church for $100,000, but over 200 neighbors have come forward signing a petition asking the move not go forward. The mission offers emergency housing with up to 50 beds each night and is usually full. The mission also serves three meals a day seven days a week and relies on community support to continue its Godly work. During the holidays, the mission has served up to 3000 meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The potential closure of the Mission should raise serious concerns...

Intrafaith Lutheran Transexual Dr. Rev. Universalist Invited To Missoula for TRANS Week

March 20, 2017 By MCN Staff Interfaith dialogues and activities are happening all around, which is laudable. What is largely missing, however, is conversation among Christians about what to do with the proverbial elephant in the Christian living room – Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation. ~ The Intrafaith Conversation, By Susan Stroue & Megan Rohrer Megan Rohrer’s visit to Missoula comes at a time when Interfaith or “intra-faith” seems to be making huge progress in dismantling the fundamentals of Christianity and disgracing Jesus. It’s a heresy that needs to be called out for what it is – a dangerous subversion of Christianity being orchestrated to make the Anti-Christ’s ‘One World Religion’ palatable. These are serious claims, but not without merit. Christianity does not have a catchy term to describe its hybrids (Chrisbu or Bu-Chris is just not as mellifluous as Jubu!). But there are those who are...

Franklin Graham’s message of Pray-Vote-Engage

By Debra Brown With the past tumultuous election that this country has gone through, many people are wondering what is going to happen next. Evangelist Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham, took on a challenge from God in 2016 to travel across America encouraging Christians to Pray-Vote-Engage along with the timeless message of salvation through Jesus. Graham traveled to the state capitals of all 50 states where thousands of Christians and non-Christians gathered to pray for our country and the upcoming November election. His Decision America Tour (DAT) Rally was held in Helena, Montana, on August 9, 2016. Over 3,000 people gathered on the Montana Capital grounds, a record number for any previous events held there. Longtime friend and travel companion of Graham, Dennis Agajanian, sang praises to our God. Graham’s first order of duty was to present the salvation message for those who had never received Jesus as their...

Our Email Inbox: Justice Against Sponsors of a Terrorism Act

From: Jim Buterbaugh Sent: Thursday, February 9, 2017 To: editor@mtchristianjournal.com Subject: Justice Against Sponsors of a Terrorism Act The Justice Against Sponsors of a Terrorism Act. This was overwhelmingly passed by congress in 2016 and of course Obama tried to veto it. The bipartisan vote was so strong that he couldn’t. This act allows families of terrorist attack victims the ability to file civil suits against a foreign government if that government financed the attack. In comes Senators McCain and Graham, who has introduced a bill that would allow filing suit only if a government knowingly engage with a terrorist group directly or indirectly, including financing the terrorist group. Saudi Arabia likes the McCain/Graham bill. And well they should, as most of the 9-11-01 terrorist came from there. Here is where this whole mess is a problem. The Saudi’s have hired Qorvis MSLGroup to lobby for the McCain/Graham bill, Qorvis...

An American in Kuwait

By Staff Reporter February 9, 2017 MCJ Reporter: Would you and/or your husband have anything you would like us to know about Muslims and the travel ban? I would really like to hear your opinion. I will protect your identity if you like. You could write an open letter to the editor. Thanks! An American in Kuwait: Sure. I don’t know about writing a letter but I can share some insight, insight I didn’t have and has changed my perspective to a degree. Being in the Middle East and living in an ally nation, I have seen how peaceful and accepting Muslims can be. I have also seen the hate some can possess. Typically from people working in this nation from other nations such as Egypt, Pakistan, Iraq and India. This particular nation is tolerant….to an extent. It has much it needs to evolve in. For instance, they allow a...

Here’s The TRUTH About Ken Miller

By Tom Balek When I learned that Ryan Zinke was named to head the Department of the Interior, my first thought was, “We really need a proven, common-sense conservative to replace Ryan.”  My second thought was, “Like Ken Miller.”  My third thought was, “I wonder if his opponents will try to use that old lie about campaign contributions against him again.” I moved from Montana to South Carolina a few years ago.  Life is good here, but I still wear my boots, I miss the mountains and the snow, and I miss my friends.  I keep an eye on the goings on back home, and try to keep in touch. I’m thrilled that Ken Miller is running for Ryan Zinke’s seat in Congress.  I got to know Ken well when he ran for governor in 2012. And that’s why I am writing to you Ken is a good, honest man. ...

A Focus On Liberal Press In Montana

Fake News “REALLY FAKE NEWS” Dan Brooks claimed that “[Sure] the people who practice Sharia law are safely contained in foreign places…” in his article on SB97. “An investigative journalist and contributor to Fox News, said on Friday that Sharia law is being followed by practitioners of radical Islam right here in the United States, even if many Americans think of the human rights abuses towards women by these practitioners as something that only takes place in the Middle East and Africa.” – CNS News, Media Research Center. Muslim Brotherhood Agenda A Missoula Independent story by Dan Brooks titled “Better dumb than sorry” attacked the validity of SB97, a Senate bill removing the potential introduction of Sharia Law into Montana courts. Brooks also attacked one of our Associate Editors, Gina Satterfield, for her comments on the threat of allowing foreign law to superseded Montana law, claiming her information came...
